Let us tell you a little about River Rest Dubois!
We fell in love with this location on the west edge of Dubois, Wyoming and so we purchased it in 2016. It is a lovely, quiet riverfront property on the Wind River.
This is a great spot to come to for hunting, fishing, snowmobiling, hiking, wildlife viewing, scenic drives, mountain biking or just relaxing.
On the property is the main log house and a separate private guest apartment. A fire ring by the river is available to anyone staying at the property and there is also a fire pit at the private guest apartment. Please observe Dubois fire restrictions and use only firewood. Burning brush or branches is not allowed.
Dubois is a charming old western town that has all the services you need. downtown Dubois is maybe a mile down the road, within walking distance.
A bit closer, maybe half a mile, on our side of the street is the National Bighorn Sheep Center, the Visitor Center, the Dubois Museum and the Town Park.
Right across the road and just yards east of us take the gravel road access to the bike trail all the way to the top. There is a beautiful scenic view. Gorgeous anytime, it’s a great spot to watch a sunset.
The area around River Rest Dubois is surrounded by national parks and national forests. We are just over an hour away from the entrances of both Yellowstone Park and Grand Teton Park to the west of us. Close enough for day trips.
Four miles to the east is the Whiskey Basin Wildlife Management Area & Whiskey Mountain Bighorn Winter Range. This is the winter range of the largest herd of bighorn sheep in the world and the area provides some great viewing spots for all types of wildlife. https://wgfd.wyo.gov/Public-Access/WHMA/WHMA/Whiskey-Basin
Also accessed from the Whiskey Basin turnoff is the fish hatchery. Visitors are welcome and guided tours are available by making a reservation. https://wgfd.wyo.gov/About-Us/Offices-and-Facilities/Dubois-Fish-Hatchery
The local scenery is spectacular. There is plenty to see and do year round and we are open year round.
We hope you love River Rest Dubois as much as we do.
